5% is actually quite a large percentage, considering.

Literally yesterday I was thinking of posting about a coworker and then I thought... what if he is on here and knows I'm talking about him?

@AmyShackles the susan bates hooks actually have a different shape than most hooks, and I think they hold the yarn better, but it takes some getting used to. The hook part is deeper and less rounded.

I just did it a week ago ;)

I'm sure somebody can, but nobody here will. Go do your own homework.

@bittersweet there is already a way of writing crochet patterns with certain words/symbols/structure having specific meaning., and ways of writing to repeat a specific list of instructions a certain number of times (loops I guess?), etc. I guess you could call it a domain-specific language :)

My CS teachers were great, knew a lot, were excellent teachers, and helped us find jobs after college ;)

I've had Linux completely lock up, to the point that it didn't respond to keyboard or mouse input at all. I had to force-shutdown and restart, no other option. I have had the same happen on Windows.

This is like the kids in games telling people to alt+F4 for free V-Bucks

Tried to claim Cyber Ops, it was taken already :(

As a female who is usually in an all-female environment, I would 100% refer to a group of my female peers as "guys" when speaking face-to-face or in writing.

that scene is gorgeous though

in ubuntu the wifi icon is probably on the top right of your screen. Or, you may have to go into settings and click on network settings in order to access the wifi settings.

@nibor read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. They had what are effectively airPods (called Seashells in the book) and he accurately predicted the effects of such devices. In 1953.

those desktop shortcuts are making me mad

at the clinic where I got the vaccine they made everyone sit around the waiting room for a while in case they got some serious reaction. Very uncommon, but it does happen.

I have almost no pictures/videos on my Windows partition and still I filled about half of my 512 GB drive. With just dev environment and a bunch of non-image files.

I recently recovered a hard drive from my family's old Windows XP laptop that died like 10 years ago, and I found this pinball on it

This is the kind of thing my classmates would do first semester in college.

I noticed that I stutter when on formal video calls (with my friends I'm fine), but I don't remember having trouble getting words out during formal in-person meetings.

What is .985 of a sync issue?

Every time I join a Zoom call with classmates to do a group project, someone starts looking anxious about all of my open Chrome tabs...

@JS96 I didn't even realize this rant was 3 years old until I saw this comment. It fits right in!

Laptop because I bought one when I started college, but if I knew I would be learning from home for most of my stay in college I would likely have bought a desktop and managed with my horrible old laptop when I needed one. Now my laptop has a dock + external keyboard, screen, and mouse, which it is always attached to when I am home.

I find most dark modes to be too dark and have too much contrast. I really do like the DevRant web dark mode though :) and I found a dark theme for my IDEs that I like as well. For general UI of my OS/apps/websites I usually use light mode because the dark is too annoying.

Using a HP Elite Thunderbolt dock right now, and it works fine. I am having some minor issues where the keyboard and mouse that are plugged into the dock will stop working after a while (especially after a suspend, not sure if it is related to the dock), but the display never has any issue. It has 2 displayport ports and a usb-c port you can use for hdmi/displayport, but it might only be able to use 2 at a time.

Having this problem where a podcast I clicked on and barely listened to for a minute is stuck in my "recommended podcasts" list, while podcasts I've listened to like 20-30 episodes of aren't there. And there is no way to remove things from recommended podcasts.
