@CoreFusionX The man was trying to edit a large codebase in an in-browser text editor. His provided computer had an IDE installed, but he was trying to do anything git-related within GitHub and trying to edit files one by one inside his browser. Refactoring manually and everything. This is what I am dealing with right now.

@Demolishun fair point
-
Probably because they have a flat org structure, barebones management staff, and very few if any BS positions a la scrummaster/TPM/etc.
Lean company = no need to soak the customer -
@Demolishun a decent strategy, Threads could serve as a normie confinement chamber
-
Seriously, if we want a Twitter equivalent we should just use Mastodon.
Daily reminder to not support monopolies except for their free and open source licensed products -
Holy shit lol, Cordova? The company definitely got what it paid for here. Sorry you get stuck with this bag of shit, hope you can find another role if you want to
-
@electrineer def fake paid lol, same boat here

LibreOffice needs to evolve and up their game, or Mozilla needs to create some FOSS Office 365 rival. Companies would actually pay for that and Mozilla would finally have a reliable source of income

Its syntax is mediocre, sure, but it's overall better than C and C++. Rust succeeds those two languages in the way Scala succeeded Java.
Is it better in terms of ease of use? No.
Is it better in terms of more abuse-proofing and noob-proofing by introducing immutable values and functional programming concepts? Yes. -
Or just put a hard cap on the number of humans per department, a hard cap on the number of layers of management in each department, and a hard cap on the number of people per manager, just to encourage simplicity and eliminate the possibility of "empire building"

Javascript moment
Is there a single JS framework that isn't shot to hell with dependencies for doing basic things? -
@kamen this guy has "3YOE"
-
Update: it turned into 45 minutes after I started explaining how to stage files and what a merge request was since they didn't know
-
Sorry you need to deal with boneheaded management.
Just remember they probably need you more than you need them -
Clown driven development 😂😂😂😂

Quizlet?

@glemiere
You hate Go? Does it have a worse developer experience than Java?
And a bigger question, I thought Rust had a bigger learning curve than Go; does Rust just have a better developer experience? What do you like the best out of these 3? -
Dear Lord. If you ever find yourself in that situation again, get out asap

Honestly I like the gatekeeping. It may have the downside of sometimes being cruel to honestly curious beginners who simply don't know how to independently research and experiment yet, but...
That downside is FAR outweighed by the tremendous upside of beating down questions like "helo sirs I got core dump on homework assignment plaese fix [no context given, no code given either]" -
@Oktokolo I hate the way that Windows puts a backslash at the end of URIs (made by the Java URI library) that otherwise have no slash at the end of them. Fucks up the unit tests that work fine on everyone's Macs and the gitlab runners using a linux distro.
Corporate won't enable WSL for Windows users. POSIX compliance or bust on the workstation and the server, I say! -

That's BS lol. Find another company to work for

Yes, use switch case instead

This is more of a StackOverflow type of question, not a "blab to other developers while you're taking a dump on company time" thing
