Don't put all of yours eggs in the same basket... Move on
-
Don't forget that HR works for the same company. I've been there, done that and in the end concluded that they are all the same shit. You're by yourself so just trust your guts. Maybe it's time to leave... And even then, you will see how much they care...
-
Really don't get the argument that companies can do what ever they want... If you guys don't feel comfortable with that (assuming that is unjustified due to the nature of the level of discomfort) just voice it... if it goes ahead anyway, consider moving to another company...
-
You're lucky... I must fight everyday with arguments to validate the use of VCS or git to be more precise...
-
Welcome David, all the best.
-
@fahad3267 Good point xD
-
@Bleh It's like, "What does'nt kill you makes you stronger...". Learn the most you can, the good and the bad. The good, to improve yourself and the bad it's also an improvement, unnecessary one but nonetheless you will be able to identify what you don't want and what you don't like. Its all part of the journey :/
-
@Bleh The good side, at least you have unit tests xD
-
@Bleh I know that feeling... It haunts me everyday... Last friday i had a situation like that but by then the mood changed from good to one sided bad... I tend to be calm and several years of dealing with crazy people increased my immunity to those wicked behaviours. Imagine this same boss screamed like crazy throwing a "but i'm the boss so you do what you're told...". I said that he was dumb (with "polite" words) and even joked with his stupidity after he realized that what he was asking was nonsense. Obviously i have several years in this company and i'm a key employee and if they fire me i even thank them :)
-
@Bleh I did laugh like crazy, because the sentence came out without too much thinking but it made sense... He was ok, the mood was good, not always the case though.
Well, this has some context with other similar situations, some good some bad... may another rant someday ;) -
I mostly use linux at work. When i'm developing for iOS i use a mac and xcode but that's about it.
-
rigid vs flexible... bosses always like to mix these two... specially in this order, rigid entry time and flexible leave IF after the rigid leave time... deja vu...
-
@RodrigoF public reach to the internet is one thing... Internet in portugal is another and yes, it took a long while until the first ISP appeared . all the best ;)
-
@RodrigoF where do you get those facts?
-
@RodrigoF in highschools too but it was not so widespread, indeed.
-
Almost 20 years?... In the early 90's CS was already established in universities. That was almost 30 years ago... :/
-
The only reason to buy a mac is to do ios development and/or xamarin for ios apps
-
Welcome to devrant.
-
@j4cobgarby damn... I was almost seeing some hope in SE :)
-
You get what you pay for... And it happens everywhere else. Its not a India thing, probably you see it more often because there are many indians, just that...
-
Well, if you didn't get downvoted, consider yourself - lucky :/
-
@dark-passenger difficult to enumerate all those human flaws they suffer from. There's no need to taint your katanna with so poor and lost souls blood xD
-
@BenAfonso ain't lazyness... It's performance eheheh xD
-
Try adding tmux to the equation, you will be amazed.
-
Wait until you start searching for "vim mode" on other editors... Then you know there's no comming back xD
-
Welcome to devrant

Good luck! Be careful with tea, check which teas you can drink
-
For what reasons if one may ask?
-
@ClemFrieckie i'm #2 on two projects and trying to avoid being #1 on another one but i see no escape... Ah, all happening at the same time... Timesharing actually applied to humans :/
-
@Snatchedd indeed. I've some procedures established in order to be able to work.
I think there are better models though.
Once a boss told me this, to excuse himself from buying the worst tools ever: "look to the bright side... If it runs on your computer, it will run on all other"...
Wtf logic... I'm cursed... :/
