I got hired to maintain my companies new website out of a bootcamp type situation (It's a software company and a great place to work - plus I should preface this by saying it's my first job and it was tough to find especially with covid so I took what I could get for exp; was hired as 'web designer' technically) but all the setup tasks that needed to be done when I was hired are complete now and what is left to do (adding content *snore*) largely depends on other departments having materials available for me to add. Plus we just finished a big push to get the majority of the stuff up that was missing.
My supervisor is a busy dude and doesn't seem to have any new tasks to give me as of yet so I was given what I expect is just busy work to tide me over (which I have done) until there is more shit to do.
I DESPERATELY WANT TO WORK ON THE SOFTWARE. Even just low priority / low impact tasks to get my feet wet. Most of the devs they hire are entry level (with cs degrees or software diplomas) and aren't proficient in any of the frameworks / languages we use so they all start out with the same training courses. Plus, we always need more devs and I'm already here doing not a whole lot.
We use angular on the frontend and I fired up the tuts they give new devs to start with and they are pretty easy to understand because I already have knowledge of js frameworks, html, css etc. I don't have a degree but I understand the concepts well enough that I feel I would be able to contribute in some way...
This isn't so much a rant... Just feeling bored, underutilized and in need of more of a challenge. Maybe I'll bring it up. I chose this career because I love to learn and problem solve 🤷♀️4
Going through the google analytics academy courses as requested by the bossman and I'm drooling. I've never been so bored in my life 😩 these people may as well be speaking Simlish cause it's going in one ear and out the other...
