2 weeks ago: I received a call from a recruiter. After the interview, she said I was the right profile for the oportunity...

Last week: I went on the interview with the manager... In the end he also said that it was very good and I would receive a call in the next week to start the paperwork...

Today: I receive an e-mail saying that they decided to focus in a different path with the job, but will keep my data for future opportunities...

Really?!

They got a better candidate. It happens all the time.

From his description, it sure doesn't sound that way. "We'll call you next week to start the paperwork," is far from a verbal agreement for anything. I read that and thought, "oh, they have more people to interview."

It was irresponsible of them to give the OP that kind of hope, but the words, "next week," should have cancelled that out.

Believe it or not, some company keeps your data! I had this one interview and everything was great but they selected someone who was really better than me. 2 months later they got an opening and guess who got that job? Yeah, it was me
