    I don't mind using Windows, but that slow ass fading in and out hipster bullshit is the one thing I hate about it.

    Setup with cortana is the most cringy thing ever. Also there's no back button on setup? My dad was on the phone and kept saying "yeah" and cortana went through the setup with country as Afghanistan. Had to reset afterwards. Hahaha.

    @irene thank you for highlighting the obvious settings that only noobs like to brag about knowing.

    The point that your missing that 100% done means "done". No need to tell me "Hi, I've just done updating your PC. Now please wait another 10-15 mins before you can actually use it"

    @Crapple Linux rules man

    @irene it doesn't work.
    I am a Noob. But can tell that you don't really have any control over updates in Windows 10.

    @irene no reason really.
    There are literally no reasons to run Windows 10.
    It is slower than any other Windows release.
    It is buggier than everything ever released.
    It has a total crush rate higher than Windows 95.
    Aaand they spy on you.

    On the other hand there are reasons to use Windows overall. Just not Win10.
    Native Windows development or gaming for example.

    @irene let me explain.
    In Windows 10 the automatic updates are mandatory.
    If you "disable" them they will be enabled after a short period of time since "windows became outdated".
    If you choose to postpone them frequently - they will be forced on you after a while.
    If you select a time in which the PC is usually off - an update will be forced by the OS at the time of it's choice.
    If it's a laptop - then it is never off by default, but actually hybernates, so the OS may turn it on for a forced update.

    There are more horrible criteria for the updates.

    @Noob @irene you guys are arguing about something that is not being discussed here in the first place.

    Here are the facts.

    1) Updates happen with consent. They might be scheduled or user triggered. Including download and install.

    2) Updates start at 0% and go to 100%

    3) Once an update is completed the system resumes as usual.

    What we are discussing is point 3. That when an update is done and we are ready to use the system. Windows puts this 'hi' screen at our face which takes extra time. Which is annoying.

    If an update is done fine lemme use my goddamn PC!

    @irene must be a bug.
    @rizasif92 point 1 is incorrect, most Win10 users show proof of the updates being forced on them. I saw it myself as well.
    Point 3 is incorrect, since in high percentage of updates something fucks up.

    @irene a fact remains a fact - the wast majority of the advanced PC users can't disable updates on Win10. It simply turns them back on.

    And overall Win10's bug collection is an never-ending set. So the chances of an unintended positive functionality being a bug are high 😄

    Windows 7 on the other hand is great.

    @irene Win7 does have bugs, but it works so much better and is simply so solid relatively to the next releases. Also doesn't require much RAM actually.

    @irene

    You said you haven't updated in a while?

    There's the solution to this mystery. Whenever someone figures out a way to block a Windows update, the system patches it in the next update. If you updated fully your solution would likely not work.

    I've done several system mods to try and stop updates, none have worked. (And some updates even deleted all of my steam games and saves!!!)

    @irene

    Could also be why it doesn't bother you.. It knows you'll update on your own.. (Yeah, that's a real thing)

    @irene

    Seriously not even joking.

    The most frustrating thing about installing windows is cortana slowly explaining you how to install. Please shut up I just want a fresh install

    @Cyanite that thing you said about steam save points being deleted.. I just read that at 1 am in my country and I know what programme will on my tonight's nightmare..

    If only linus and nvidia guys were on good terms..
