wgblondel947y@Mephenor every messaging app does that. Slack, Discord, MSN when it was still alive. I find this very convenient.
-
What you're actually saying with it is close the messaging window. Which it does. The daemon keeps running so you don't miss out on messages. You wouldn't want Windows to shut down all processes on your machine when you don't have task manager open 😃
-
Forside14597y@mzeffect Exactly. It's for freeing up space in the Taskbar. You might want to keep opened the chat windows in skype/steam/whatever without having the main windows opened or in the Taskbar. Or as for Discord, you keep the voice chat running. I see many benefits in it, the little tray icon needs just a tiny amount of space and is also capable of supplying notification icons and extra options.

jopau157yIt was an annoying default until I locate the settings................ I find the update nice though......

joegalaxy447yDear everyone, clicking on a blank space not recognizable as an UI control can't trigger an action.
-
Yeah.
It closes the fucking window.
Just what I fucking expect it to do as a dev.
If you want to fully end it, end it. -
Forside14597yYou have to admit, it's a bit inconsistent and confusing, at least to the usual DAU, that some software stops running when closing the window, and some doesn't.

bahua129047yI used Skype for a couple months in 2011, but found it to be too unstable. I don't understand why it's popular.

Skype is spyware.
I worked for Microsoft when they bought it, way before the NSA leaks. Skype's "encrypted p2p communication protocol" was covered in obfuscations, and Skype repeatedly said they could not comply with wiretapping orders because they had no access... that turned out to be a flat out lie.
During the acquisition, I heard several knowledgeable people within MS say: "Something is not quite right with the Skype protocol". The code was such a mess that it's difficult to know whether Microsoft didn't fix it on purpose, or because they chose to not invest in it.
Later it became known that the backdoor was called Project Chess. It gives anyone with the right master key access to your conversations and stored data, and functioned as a trojan into your local LAN.
Microsoft chose later to centralize the network towards Azure supernodes without fixing the protocol, and all text and streams are recorded in unencrytped form in their datacenters for an undisclosed amount of time. -
I agree, but there are much better ways to bring Skype to it's knees than a meme

devlife15357yI'm from sky team
We reconsider about this button action
😆
I'm joking i hate Microsoft 😁 -
If that closed the app, what would you do to close the window and keep it running in the background?
