I support the idea that we rename devRant to WTFRant. I feel like the WTFs per rant is steadily increasing.

@Lensflare I am noticing significantly less engagement on a lot of platforms. Also significantly higher bot posts on all platforms. It feels like some of the platforms should have more people, but it "feels" like less. Not sure how to describe this.

The reason we don't see engagements on social media platforms, is because people are realizing they need smaller groups. They'd rather be in a Telegram group, WhatsApp group, Discord server, Signal channel, Facebook Groups, Snapchat DMs and such.

We have a smaller group on Matrix too, just us ranters. @vintprox can send you the link, so if you want to join us, u can. We talk everyday life and shit there. A lot of shit-talking tbh.

DevRant is a "social" media platform. Technically, anyone can join, but don't. We too, have a small number of people here which makes me think that I "know" who I am talking to. Familiar usernames each day, so it feels like a "personal" group.

I keep coming back to it, because it's like having that small room in your house which has a good view, a small shelf and comfy blanket, so it feels cozy and you're in your own corner.

Fuck Twitter btw.

@SidTheITGuy if big tech platforms are losing voices, then they are also losing ears. Sounds like they will eventually lose power?

@vintprox I don‘t know why but I like the concept of this kind of message board more than chat channels.
That’s why I don‘t want to join your Matrix/Discord.
But I‘m not saying that it shouldn‘t exist, of course.

@Lensflare I get it, BBS have this vibe and pace to them that you can't achieve with a chat.

These days, I'm more into Fediverse/Mastodon rather than Matrix. I wish more people here made their appearance on the former. I was nurturing a thought of an app that could do just that, while optionally importing posts from devRant and mirroring new ones back for compatibility. The more I think of it, the more I want people just to move places instead of such workarounds.
