I learnt a bit of Java recently. I wish I didn't. Because I primarily work with php. Now I kind of dislike php.

    Going static from a scripting language did that to me as well 😓

    @saintograph I thought I was alone. Because there are lot of people who hate Java.

    @emyu10 I do, since I learned C++ and C#

    I just wish php were not so forgiving about it's usage.

    Oh man, what will you say when you discover Kotlin / Swift / Go?

    To stay on topic tho, i always was a java guy, tried getting into php a few times (because hey, its probs the most useful web skill there is), but it was so illogical to me, even when i tried oop php. I really wish i was somewhat decent at it :/

    @BindView go into mobile or big data, no php here

    @rostopira not professionally, just to have something else i can play around with, java gets a bit boring sometimes

    @BindView mobile - Kotlin. Big data - Clojure and Scala. Java is really boring as hell, but if you choose right language which is compatible with java libs - you are ready to go faster than ever ;)

    @rostopira yeah or maybe ill just not do that because kotlin is terrible and i use haskell for data

    @BindView I've started to learn haskell, but found Clojure more pretty. And I don't think haskell have such a lot of lbs, as Java

    Now I'm glad that I shot out this rant

    @Lahsen2016 Java isn't used for desktop applications anymore, but mostly for servers.

    Every other server-side language Also requires the user to install a VM to run it's code on the server.

    Finally, if Java desktop applications are still your thing, go ahead and wrap your jar in an executable (many solutions for that out there).
