I love designing and developing software but man, I envy blue collar people sometimes. I know their jobs are hard but working with your hands and working 9 to 5 and then live your life from 5 to 9 is awesome..

Especially considering that in Europe, I have 14 years of experience and make maybe 10k more than my blue collar friends after tax. If it was just for the work-money ratio I'd become a carpenter..

But over all... 🎶I shoulda been a cowboy 🎶

in my naive days I thought the best thing would be regular rotation

otherwise the office worker grows decrepit and depressed, weak, from a lack of exercise
and the physical workers overtax their bodies, joints, and end up in physical pain due to stressful overuse

so something like 2-3 days a week physical work (instead of a useless gym membership), and 2-3 of office work

In what country in Europe do you make 10k more than someone else? Do you even euro?

This post feels like the very ending of Office Space.

there was a tweet of someone saying there should be a job where you code for half the day and spend the rest of the day moving boxes

@darksideofyay sounds a lot like a 12 hour day to me. 4h coding, 4h boxes and 4h coding overtime 😅

Dude, I feel ya. Take up a hobby that has nothing to do with code... like major construction projects. I knew this guy who was a brilliant mathematician and wrote this software for a Fortune 500 company... but as a hobby he did construction and I kid you not, made his own copper pipe for the plumbing in his house. This dude was fascinating, had a style of his own, and someone I would crack a case of cab with any day. (bottles are so damn small!)
