I'm looking for another language to learn, (something different than the language I use at work)

At work we use php with javascript.

Any suggestions? I'm currently looking towards python, but I am not sure yet

    If you learn Python you'll start to want to replace that PHP. Be careful what you wish for!

    From PHP to python is quite easy to do.
    I use both for different things.

    Java / C# (depending on who you ask) would throw you up to a forced MVC and OOP language (don’t get me wrong PHP can do OOP, but it doesn’t enforce it in the slightest)

    python is ok 🙂
    Elixir would be super useful for webdev.
    or Elm

    @heyheni I was thinking webassembly, but it isn't ready yet. Although I think it would be better if my second language / hobby language won't be a specific 'web language'

    @incognito great idea! until you learned web assembly it will be ready?

    Python is an amazing language for quick scripts and prototypes, so imho it's helpful no matter what, and easy to learn.

    @Teganburns care to explain why I should be choosing c/c++ as secondary/hobby language?

    @teganburns and if it's interesting and/or I decide to choose c/c++ you'll gain a subscriber, deal? 😉

    @incognito you can use c languages for web assembly?

    @Alice
    Isn't it a (natural)Language in southern Africa!?

    I'm in the same situation, web dev wanting to learn something new. I chose objective c/swift. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my pixel XL, but I'd like to cash in on the popularity of the iPhone.

    So the end result,

    Python, or C/C++ if @teganburns has some good arguments in his video 🙃

    Thanks for the advice and jokes (I seriously looked up 'zulu' @Alice)

    I'll share what the final decision will be, once I've made a choice
