Question:

Going to be teaching a Minecraft class tomorrow. Easy enough, right? Problem is, I have literally zero experience with Minecraft. Anybody got pointers even for a total n00b. I think we'll basically be building stuff in Java. I figure levels? We'll be using Java to program the world seed? Again, total newb. Anybody who programmed it before want to give me a high-level view?

What are you teaching exactly? How to make a game like minecraft or how to automate the playing of the game, minecraft?

@atheist haha, fair question. See I need a very high level view lol. No, apparently it will be modding using code kingdoms if your familiar with that. Looking at it, it's just simple class based Java in a blockly format. I'm pretty sure we're just building in functionality like spell casting. That's one of the lessons. Just if you have any modding experience or know any good forums or anything.

It's essentially a hosting service. You write some code. Tie your Minecraft account to their API, it generates an address for your server. And you connect through Minecraft. Bada Bing. Very simple. Now why didn't anyone I work with just describe it that way lol?
