It gets hacked so often, I'd say it's not secure as much. Instead go for alternatives like 1Password. I'm not saying it's secure or not but it hasn't got hackers attention yet. It's 'better' option for now.

okkimus17187yAny recommendations on password manager that runs on Linux, Windows and Android (+ web interface)?
-
@AlexDeLarge Thanks for the mention!
It's been breached before and it might be worth giving the following facts a thought: it's a commercial company which develops closed source/proprietary password management software. In general that would be fair enough for the regular user but we're talking about passwords (highly sensitive data) right now. Are you sure you'd trust a proprietary piece of software/service (you can't even verify their crypto!) with some of your most sensitive data?
If that's a yes, fair enough!
There was some research as to how the service can monitor it's users Internet usage but i can't find it in a second right now. -
@okkimus
I like passwdsafe, but had to code my own terminal app pretty much multi platform otherwise -
@electrineer It's integrated within the prism mass surveillance program so I'd say yes.

noogli6457yThx for the comments guys
I've used keepass in the past but the UI on Android was way to bad. -
There is nothing wrong with closed source software. In fact, in many cases it's a better choice. @smallTalker
-
-vim-31257y@okkimus @Jilano if you also prefer the original software that started the format, there’s keepass 2, but it’s in C# so you might need the mono library.
-
-vim-31257y@noogli as keepass is really just a way to format and encrypt the database, you can use any app or software
-
The vast majority of closed source software is of much better quality, usually includes support, better documentation and more frequent updates and patches. Of course there are exeptions, but they are rare. @AlexDeLarge
-
Ohhh. Historically speaking, open source software is less secure. Most importantly, for the average user, the benefits of closed source, big company backed software (as opposed to some folks in user forums) is incredibly beneficial. @AlexDeLarge
-
-vim-31257y@intromatt following @Jilano , if you have a collaborative project, than you can make it one of the most powerful tool existing, and big companies can make money by selling open source, just look at RedHat.
-
Source code not seen by a million people makes the software MORE secure, not less. @Jilano
-
Then find someone to argue with on Reddit.....but please stay off the Linux forums as discussing such topics with Linux people is like quarreling with a group of clueless pigeons.@AlexDeLarge
-
Hey, exactly and well said and I agree %100. And yeah, I try to stay away from the Linux subs on Reddit as far as I can, they're more toxic (and more absurd) than the Apple ones.@Jilano
