Can't decide if I should buy a Macbook Pro or a fucking car. Both would improve my productivity in different ways. What do you suggest?

    I'd say a car, but remember that it's not single payment. You also need insurances, parking, fuel...

    @Agred Same for the car... 😂

    MacBook.. you will be spending hours on it daily..
    But 1 or 2 hours max in a car

    Would buy a car and then later a used MacBook :)

    Actually my current laptop is powerful enough to handle everything (it has 16gb ram, m.2 ssd and other stuff). But it's a bit bulky. I think buying a car would set me free from crowded public transportation.

    I'd say a car. Even though it comes with its own set of expenses, it ends up saving so much time getting around. More time working than spending on traffic.

    I'd buy a car, but that is just because I utterly despise our public transformation and if you are not a student or do not have a decent income, it could actually make you broke. But you could also buy a bicycle if that's possible? Those a cheap and lasts half a lifetime.

    @irene If he has one, then there's no reason to switch, unless it's a necessity for XCode or something. In that case, the whole question is invalid.

    Car gives mobility and i agree that both will improve productivity. But with all car services today (e.g. Uber, Grab), it gives less worry about traffic, parking and maintenance for a car especially if you're only city driving daily.

    Everybody thanks for the suggestions!

    Depends. On one hand, you get a working machine. On the other hand, you get a MacBook.

    But bitcoin and buy both tomorrow. Or buy just a bike tomorrow.... 📉

    @Torbuntu by that logic, even a piece of paper does the same thing as a MacBook. Stop throwing advice based on your biases. I've used both Ubuntu laptops and MacBooks during my career as a web dev and I would always chose Macs if given the choice. It offers way more tools, a lot more stability and a generally better user experience. As for the car vs a MacBook, I would go for the Mac since it can help me save money for a car, while buying a car won't necessarily help me save for a Mac.

    Depends where you from! I'd choose a new PC! With a sleek laptop you can work in public transport. And driving a car is a lot of time being a useless machine that should've been automated right now.

    At some point in the future you will probably be able to buy an Apple car.

    Car! Macbook instead of a car?, are you crazy!

    Three things a person should NEVER buy but receive from their company:
    * Laptop
    * Car
    * Cellular Phone

    @irene Yeah, was just talking with a coworker that you might need a phone at least before you start a job 😄
    On the other hand some work places provide you with 2 phones.

    @lookatmyhorse My daily driver is Ubuntu but let's be honest it's not that mature OS as Mac OS or even Windows 10.

    @orkhanfarmanli don't get me wrong, I don't blame the employee, I set a standard for it to be an ambition.
