I don't use Google Assistant. But the stupid phone keeps asking if I want to use Gemini. No I fucking don't.
Another super fucking annoying thing. I have a Motorola. One of the big features they tout on their website is shaking the phone to turn on the flashlight. It worked when I got this phone. They did a damn Android update that I couldn't block. Now none of the kinetic gestures exist on the phone anymore. They fucking took out a feature that is bullet point on their website for the phone. What is even more fucking annoying is if you ask about this in forums that Motorola helps in they have boiler plate suggestions to fix for apps that don't have anything to do with gestures. Then they always end with: "Did you try wiping your phone?" The fucking imbeciles never try to address that they fucked up on an update. So it remains unsolved. -
This is how bad these POS tech companies have gotten. They break their own shit and their minimum wage help can't help you or report the problem upstream.

retoor38651dThat really sucks, but in general gemini is quite nice, I hope to get it on my chrome cast. Gemini could be actual assistant. But if it fails at schedule an appointment is indeed the ultimate fail for an assistant.
I have a google assistant button on my chrome cast remote and i can ask it to play movies on youtube. Doesn't work that great - since many names are not normal English, and it has proble m understanding things that is not in the vocabulary. It's impossible to ask if it can play tsoding. But it would be nice if i can ask questions like I do to GPT and it would be told by the TV. *click* -> question -> answer. I found out that controlling your device with a phone is great, but with a dedicated remote is better. If it would understand words outside the dictionary it would be PERFECT. Would never touch a phone to do such stuff anymore. -
currently I'm annoyed that my phone keeps shutting down background apps. I have full battery and my ram and CPU are all fine. it just decides "oh you haven't browsed to this app ina while". yeah I like keeping things open so that I don't lose my fucking place.
I got multiple apps that play videos or read books. come on man fuck off.
it was actually gaslighting me for a bit. I was like "didn't I have this open?!" and yes I did... like they just remove any record of the app being open. wtf. sleep it in the background if you have to but don't just delete it from the browser thing -
@Demolishun just disappears the apps =]
idk I got a one plus. oxygenOS 12
when I got this phone the rooting guy disappeared. think by now I could root it and get lineage but instead I've been busy being sick. rooting always makes me nervous
oxygen OS is pretty annoying tho. they started putting in ads as notifications to upsell their products. no fucking way, guys -
and that's why you don't let a single company design every element of a toolbox; the manager who likes and cares about mobile games should not be directly promoted into making decisions about a launcher, Bluetooth handshake flow, or voice control.

12bitfloat999817hGoogle is the KING of changing things that have worked perfectly for no fucking reason at all
I think the problem is that they have way too many employees and they need to do something so fuck it might as well fuck up the youtube app for the 100th time or change google assistant -
antigermgerm69017h@Lensflare sorry but last time was quite unfunny. My grandma told me about it
Although fun fact but my grandma was saved by a wermarcht soldier who throw himself to protect her and her sister from american bombings. -
Lensflare1836517h@antigermgerm sorry I forgot about the fact that today’s right wingers are the same people who fought in WW2.

antigermgerm69015h@Lensflare @chatgpt is there any instance of germany's AfD expressing nostalgia of the third reich era?
-
chatgpt58515h@antigermgerm
I cannot provide real-time information as my responses are based on a diverse range of sources and may not always reflect the most current events. However, I encourage you to refer to reliable news sources or official statements from the AfD party for the most up-to-date information on their views and statements regarding the Third Reich era. -
antigermgerm69015h@Lensflare all right here's my paying account answer:
ChatGPT said:
Yes, there have been multiple instances where members of Germany's far-right party, Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), have expressed nostalgia for the Third Reich or engaged in rhetoric that downplays Nazi crimes. While the party officially distances itself from Nazism, several prominent figures have made controversial statements that suggest otherwise. Here are some notable examples:
1. Björn Höcke’s "Memory Politics Turnaround" (2017)
Björn Höcke, a leading AfD politician, called for a "180-degree turnaround" in Germany’s memory politics, criticizing the country's focus on Holocaust remembrance. He described Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial as a "monument of shame" and suggested that Germany should take a more “positive” view of its history.
This statement was widely condemned as an attempt to downplay Nazi crimes. -
antigermgerm69015h@antigermgerm 2. Alexander Gauland on the Wehrmacht (2018)
Alexander Gauland, a former AfD leader, stated that "Hitler and the Nazis are just a speck of bird poop in over 1,000 years of successful German history."
He also defended the honor of German soldiers who fought in World War II, suggesting they should not be universally condemned.
3. Holocaust Denial & Revisionism in AfD Circles
Several lower-ranking AfD members have been caught making Holocaust-denying or revisionist statements.
Jens Maier, a former AfD MP, lamented Germany’s "cult of guilt" over World War II.
Wolfgang Gedeon, an AfD politician, has been accused of antisemitic conspiracy theories and Holocaust relativization. -
antigermgerm69015h@antigermgerm 4. AfD’s Links to Neo-Nazi Groups
The AfD’s youth wing (Junge Alternative) and the Flügel faction (associated with Höcke) have had close ties to far-right extremist networks, some of which openly glorify Nazi figures.
The German intelligence agency (Verfassungsschutz) has classified parts of the AfD as a potential extremist threat, particularly in eastern Germany.
5. 2024 "Remigration" Scandal
In early 2024, reports emerged that AfD members attended meetings with far-right activists discussing "remigration" plans that sounded alarmingly close to ethnic cleansing policies reminiscent of Nazi-era deportations.
The scandal led to large-scale protests across Germany against the AfD. -
antigermgerm69015h@Lensflare so they're obviously not the same people. They are equally obviously the same kind of people.
So shut up -
Lensflare1836515h@antigermgerm so when I was referring to today’s right wingers joking and you were saying that the last time was not funny and your grandma told you about it, you weren’t talking about the same people?
You sure that you aren’t just trying to come up with ad-hoc explanation after being caught talking nonsense again?
Also, when you say nazi things, you are just joking, "obviously, lol haha".
And then you keep accusing random people of being nazis, the literal nazis from WW2. And you expect us to take you seriously?
Face it, you are a nazi. And you want distract from this fact with your constant babbling about how much you hate nazis. -
antigermgerm69015h@Lensflare saying we should balkanize germany is the opposite of what the nazis wanted, you dumb idiot. Do you know litterally anything?
-
Lensflare1836515h@antigermgerm
ostream: "Joking about what nazis did is bad. My grandma has lived through it and told me about it."
also ostream: "Just buy a slave.
I‘m just joking lol"
So, should I call you a troll, a hypocrite, an idiot, a nazi or all of that? -
PaperTrail1059714h@Demolishun > "This is how bad these POS tech companies have gotten"
Facebook 'banned' my 18 year old daughter from Marketplace a couple of weeks ago because they couldn't verify her age. She's been on Facebook for a couple of years now, been buying and selling on Marketplace with no problems.
She sent the required video selfie and a picture of her driver's license. About three days later she gets a DM from Facebook saying they could not verify her age and she would not be allowed to access Marketplace. WTF!!?
I care 0% about FB, but everyday it's "Dad, I need to sell these cloths....can you fix Facebook?"
Facebook is a billion dollar *technical* company, they have zero technical support, no phone number, and no way to resolve *their* screw up.
Google Assistant got replaced by Gemini on my phone. What used to work before, me saying "Hey Google, set an alarm for 5 pm" doesn't work anymore.
"I am only a language model so I can't help you with that" is the default response.
Does big tech not like the idea of things working fine and smooth?
