Well your response was prompt...
Yeah, I wonder if you are even talking to human anymore with shit like this. Its either an AI or an NPC that doesn't understand the terms in front of them. -
retoor45913dCrazy to think that langchain is just some side business to do and call that prompting experience. Wut?
But nice response. Respect.. -
Gotta love the priorities && the approach: 'your years of experience are nice, but you don't have <x> which is our requirement'.
Where <x> is kind of meaningless && easily attainable given the experience.
Have, unfortunately, witnessed it 1st hand. -
I wouldn't apply for any company who put 'prompt engineer' as job requirement. What a joke. What engineer? Even school kids can do it.
-
This kind of shit just incentivizes to flood your cv with the maximum amount of tech buzzwords.
Like a sad joke of SEO, but for CVs. -
@Hazarth The ability to make goods prompts is a very important skill, and it‘s something that I‘m bad at. I can acknowledge that.
However "prompt engineering" is indeed a bs term as it implies that it has something to do with engineering, and it doesn’t.
So imo, what we have here is a typical terminology problem. -
Here is our MUST HAVE list of technologies and you have to have MASTERED all of them no matter how obscure.
Is code for "we don't need a developer or someone who tells the truth. Fuck you up your ass"
ALSO if their was recession or life happened fuck you, explain these gaps in your employment you fuck ! -
Hazarth96172d@Lensflare The funny thing about "good prompts" is that it's mostly about writing out specs that are a good balance of specific and generic to not limit the scope of the llm too much, but also to have it do all the important stuff and then to also provide examples. Then it's mostly just about iterating that prompt and refining it until you get rid of unwanted outputs and formats.
A child could do it... in fact I think children would have much easier time doing it, because they have the time and motivation to fiddle with it until it's perfect... While little ol' me always feels like it's a chore to do it. But when I do force myself to mess with it I can usually get the right formats and responses.
Nothing really to do with engineering (except maybe for the spec part), everything to do with patience. At least that's my experience with this. -
@Hazarth I can't remember if I did, but I have considered putting "google searching" on my resume. I realized early on it was a skill of sorts. I kind of assume prompt skills are similar. You learn the "rules" by intuition somewhat. So maybe I should create a section of misc tool skills.

@AvatarOfKaine I went to pickup my check at Walmart. They said I don't work there. I pointed at the self checkout and said "I work there."

When you wanted to know deep learning immediately
I really want this whole industry to die. I want it to happen from the bottom of my soul!
Their whole job ad was about web technologies where they were asking for a 7-10 years Symfony developer.
One would think being a programmer for 10 years should superseed your shitty LLM prompt crafting requirements.
Truly, there never was a better time for global EMP to happen..
