It's not a mistake. The opening day (the day with the opening ceremony) is noted as day 0. Some competitions (Women football for example) actually begin a day or two before the opening ceremony. These days are noted as -1 and -2. I'm also fun at parties.

I thought you were referring to the spacing day - 2, not day -2.
