fucking web hosts blocking all SMTP ports outgoing, forcing me to use PHP mail from their shitty blacklisted IP's.

Since I can't use a web api to send the mail Iended up setting up my home server to forward port 53 back out to the mail server, alot of hassle to get mail working :(

    they are not offering a mail relay either?

    why would you stay on that host. you can practically get a free aws server

    @Linux not a good one, all mail through their relay gets marked as spam

    @itsmill3rtime in a few months it will be moved to a OVH server and all will be good, but until they I don't have a choice :/

    @Linux yea, that's why I want to send mail through sparkpost (since mandrill changed there billing), but with all ports blocked other than web and DNS, needs must

    @hcaz you should move to my webbhotel/hostingcompany ;)

    @Linux I would, but first I'm trying to get this client to move to mine instead of the one their with! ( But their application could benefit from dedicated hardware tbh)

    On a sort of related note I wonder how many people on here run their own hosting companies?

    @hcaz
    oh, we dont offer dedicated servers, only virtualized. And I dont run my own hosting Company saldy

    @Linux That's fair enough, and I wonder how many people work at or closely with a web hosting company? in recent years it's become a huge industry, and it seems lots of people on here and /r/tfts are part of a web hosting thing

    @hcaz
    Well, I am a sysadmin on a hosting/registrar/DNS provider.

    @Linux I think devrant needs polls to find out!

    @hcaz a poll option or a poll every week would be awesome

    @Linux @dfox would it be possible to have some kind of poll option? or would that go against the "rant" nature?
