New setup is nearly finished 😍

Six active monitors right now ran by one laptop (three monitors including the laptop screen), one computer (also used as a server, two monitors) and one real rack server (one monitor).

Also bought a new switch and getting led strips tomorrow.

I already am in love with this baby 😍❤

    The screens are not all the same size by the way but hey, this looks sexy as hell 😊

    That was pretty fast. You just had that idea a few days ago, if I do recall it correctly.

    RGB LEDs are the best thing that has ever happened to me.
  • 1
    Do you really have a use case, so that you need 6 monitors? Sounds a bit too much for my opinion :D
  • 3
    Why do you need a screen on the server?
  • 2
    @Linux I installed proxmox on my old setup and this makes that it has the wrong ip address at bootup so I have to manually do a dhcp refresh :) next to that, htop ❤

    @linuxxx
    Static IP? Or get a KVM switch :D

    damn I am jelly :) I want to add to my 3 monitors 2 other monitors and a TV on the wall too
  • 2
    @Linux Dynamic but I searched around and appearantly you can't change the main vmbr0 address after installation.

    Downloading XCP-ng right now though!

    @linuxxx
    You can..
  • 1
    @linuxxx can't you just add another bridge and route all your containers through it instead of vmbr0?
  • 3
    @MrJimmy Nah, just wanted to have a dream setup for ages and finally had the money and time to do so so what the hell :D

    On a serious note, I actually do use all screens :)
  • 2
    @JoshBent
    Not needed, you can just change it via the UI.
  • 1
    @Linux Well, found multiple sources saying you can't so presumed they were right. In case you're wondering about the sources, they're somewhere between page 50 and 100 at duckduckgo :)
  • 2
    @MrJimmy One of them is a TV actually :D
  • 1
    @Linux I know you can change them in the interface, I never tried to change the main bridge though, so I believed, when he said you can't

    @JoshBent @linuxxx

    @linuxxx I had a notification popping up that you mentioned me. It's not available anymore. What did you say to me?

    @Linux Oh damn thanks!

    How much money are we talking about? Seems like you're new job is paying a lot. I guess maybe I'm not a server guy but i only have a laptop hooked upto an external monitor n both r like 5yrs old...

    @linuxxx
    Yes yes monitors, but tell us about the *switch*! Did you get something managed?

    Have you committed to hours of arcane networking setup only to forget which server is supposed to be on which vlan??

    Did you decide to spend even more time setting up perfect ACLs only to realize you actually wanted to use ipv6?!?!?
  • 2
    @Diactoros I deffo don't want to use ipv6, for privacy reasons. I bought a managed switch but haven't figured out how to manage it yet 😅

    @billgates I get paid the minimum wage haha but it's enough to keep me going, do fun stuff sometimes and enjoy life! I'll post more info with the pic tomorrow :)
