I don't agree with you, but I did start on a typewriter. That being said in college which wasn't that many years ago it was two spaces. I understand both are accepted but I could never go to one space.

@manFrame untrue! Double-spaces are only the norm in script writing for Stage/TV. They're frowned upon everywhere else, especially publishing.

Send me a manuscript with double spaces? Pity the fool!

Yeah as soon as you put in that double space you've immediately given away your age.

You have no idea how hard it is to break the habit. Been trying for ages. Worse than quitting smoking. I even had to go back and edit this comment and take out spaces. Trust me, for most of us, it's not on purpose.

Hell, I didn't even know I was doing it till a few months ago when a friend started yelling at me about it on my Facebook posts.

I do this all the time, it is purely habit. I am not old only 34, to me there is nothing wrong with it. To be fair, I think the fact causes you so much anger for you to write all caps about it, it's you with the issue?! lol

Does no one realize they make you do this in education so the teacher has space for the comments?

Makes it easier to correct it.

In Philosophy, English Literature and English Language, double space is not only the norm for marking but necessary for publication. Cite; I've studied all three at high academic level.

@magis true! I forgot about papers and such.

From a design perspective most modern fonts are designed with single space in mind. Double space fucks up kerning and makes text harder to read
