    @jebediah woaah nice
    well done

    @samia , they are not very good games though ;-) first one was simple javafx multiplayer game(hot seat, not online) second one is a puzzle game for android

    @jebediah even so
    after some time you'll be able to make the best games ever

    10 minutes. But that's because I already knew C++

    @FelisPhasma πŸ˜“
    yeah but not ten minutes my bro

    @samia well, I guess I should be more clear. I know over 30 languages, so I can never learn every part of every language, however I learn he formatting, syntax, language fundamentals, etc. This has always been enough for me, because most languages are well documented, so I have the documentation on one monitor and the code on another.

    @FelisPhasma really nice
    can I know how old are you?

    @samia thank you,good luck for you too and keep coding!!πŸ‘

    @samia lets see... WhenI taught myself Java, I was 13 or so

    you cannot learn java or in fact anything, i started coding in c then i started coding in c# then java now php or sometimes node, did i learn all that? no, i learned the basics, what is for loop, what are conditional statements, because programmimg is same in any language(with obvious limitations and advantages of various languages) what is different is syntax, so my friend learn the concepts don't learn the language :)

    if u have no previous experience then be prepared it need years(at least 3) hard work, no shortcut in learning any language, do not read and trust any book start with mastering XXX in XXX days, all BS and mind masterbation
  • 2
    @FelisPhasma I find the similarities between our coding workflows and approach to learning languages disturbing .
    I hope I am not schizophrenic and you are a second account I made :p .

    @skonteam Hmmm, we'll never know πŸ˜‰

    I'd say about a week and change to get comfortable enough.

    @randombug nice point of view
    thank you😊

    @loveyoupeng got it
    thanks a lot

    I second the comments. To get the basics, not that long. To actually work with the language to make it do what I want it to do, years and still learning.

    Started leaning 3month ago
    The Core was pretty easy but I'm currently breaking my teeth on the GUI aspect
    I still feel like I barely know how to build a simple window with a text field....
    This is really demotivating...

    @rant yes we have to spend lot of time to master things

    I haven't used Java in some time, but to me the Java libraries are not very intuitive. And things like converting strings to numbers is a lot more roundabout process than I think is necessary.
    I think what stood in my way more often than not when it comes to Java is that I think command A should be able to do such and such instead of having to combine commands A, B, and C in this particular format to get it done.

    @rant true
    so that you avoid to get lost in a loop of thousands of variables
  • 0
    @Defi4NT no don't feel so
    all you have to do is to enjoy what you are doing
    things will be much easier

    It was the first language I was taught, so I don't know if it's applicable - 3 years in high school, 2 years university. If you have experience with OOP, probably 3 months to become fluent 😊

    @jarodsmk yes i'm
    ooh that's so motivating
    thank you and good luck for you
