Alright ladies and Gents, i find this topic very interesting but who cannot code without listening and who cannot code without silence

If your in the music listening category, what music genre hits that coding sorcery zone for you?

Being interrupted is a part of my workflow so I have to work in silence but if I work from remotely..metal ->Metallica

Upbeat tunes with minimal and/or mindless lyrics.

I find that classical helps me get in the zone more consistently than other genres. But regardless of what the genre is, I listen to songs with no lyrics. Fur Elise is currently my preference.

@passwordhash might have to try that one, at the moment im listening to a radio list based on Trance Anthems Top 60, Trance/Dance with no lyrics helps me the most but i listen to Rock mostly (except that Indie Rock *shudder*)

Music every time, August burns red on repeat..

Kyle Landry's Ultimate Nerdy Piano Medleys. It activates power mode coding. :)

For me techno/house/deephouse sets. Exactly the right balance between being not too intrusive but also not mind-numbingly repetitive (though some might disagree :p)

    Metal ✊🏽

Ambient drone. I'm all about Boards of Canada.

Depends. When it's plain coding without essential logic, metal. Everything I need my brain to work I'll listen to minimal.

Dirty-ass Dubstep (usually Knife Party). Which is weird as outside of coding I'm mainly a metalhead and play in a death metal band 😂

I love to listen to podcasts if I'm designing in Sketch or Photoshop on my own. If I'm coding on my own from home I need death metal or drum n bass. Otherwise I leave one earpiece in. Always something playing;)

Interesting that the three genres are: metal, electronic or classical. Devs and designers have great music tastes!

For me it's classical when I'm working something out but electro/edm when I'm just writing code.

Electronic indie and chill music is my jam. Unless I'm on a break, then hip hop and Jersey club, trap, and future bass gets thrown in the mix. Never really work well in silence.

Depending on my mood either drum&bass or techno/deep house

    ACDC or foo fighter

Recently I've taken to having a twitch stream on in the background while I'm at home. If not, just any old radio station will do!

I bounce around a lot, but mostly lyric-less music and techno. My mind won't try to think about the lyrics and distract me :)
