These reviews are just taking objectively bad things (energy and microtransactions) and saying they're good?? I'm so confused, has the world gone mad?

Pokemon quest is one of the okay-est Pokemon games!

They're taking objectively good things and saying they're good. I am so confused 😌

I don't see why microtransaction piss off so many people.

As long as the game isn't pay to win, whats the big fucking deal?

Energy is definitely a good thing to prevent people from wasting time.

@Stuxnet energy annoys me, I can handle my own time and if I want to play a game for 3 hours straight who are they to stop me?

@j4cobgarby Kids have smart devices these days. Left alone with these devices, they'll likely waste hours.

You're not the only person who plays the game. Not everyone has self control.

@Stuxnet so you're saying the reason behind this is because they don't want me to play the game for as long?
No, the reason is to make us want to play it more

@Stuxnet depends on the type of game. If it's a free to play mobile game then yeah whatever. If I paid £30 for the game and there are microtransactions then that sucks. I'd rather they were cosmetic at that point but it still sucks that they're there. I understand why they have to exist in some cases but I wish there was an alternative.

    @Wytchley Fortnite and PUBG.

Literally the only thing you get from microtransactions are costumes/outfits.

Personally, I couldn't give a rat's ass what my character looks like. I'm not about to waste my money on something like that.

If it changes the gameplay dramatically, then I agree that they shouldn't exist.

@Stuxnet there are parental control apps designed for this. In games, this is not about making sure you don't waste too much time or even only to make you pay for energy boosts. The psychology behind it is much more sinister. These "timer mechanics" are designed specifically to make you want to come back to the game. If you were going to play until the next level and then stop, but the game interrupts you, this basically sets a mental alarm for you to go back and play when the timer runs out. So you're probably going to start playing immediately, get the reward, but then you will probably continue playing, until you get interrupted again...
That way, they get much more play time and better player retention. [source: high school psychology teacher back when FB games were still a thing]

@Stuxnet Yeah but it still annoys me you've paid full price for a game and yet they still try and get money out of you. You still don't have access to "the whole game" the only comfort to you is that 'at least it's cosmetic'.

@Wytchley You literally don't have to buy a fucking thing inside the game. It doesn't fucking force you to buy it. My God they've gotta make some fucking money some how (especially fortnite...it's free).

Everything in this world can't be free. That's not how this works.

@Stuxnet I understand this but it's a hard pill to swallow after paying out £30 initially only to be told that you don't have the ability to get everything some things have to still be bought.

Also, like I said in my first comment, if it's free then I don't care.
