Finish the projects I was 'going to finish later' when I was 'less busy' 😏

Anybody read the Game Programming Gems series? Are they any good? Are there better alternatives? I'm thinking of getting one or two but have no idea if they're actually worth it or whether they're outdated or were never very good to begin with.

The worst idea I've ever had:

"I'll implement the Route Inspection algorithm, that'll be fine!"

Why do I do this to myself? :(

Creating quick and dirty code because "I'll improve it later once I know it works" and never do.

That feeling when your teacher tells you won't get any extra marks for implementing your own solutions to things (such as queues, stacks or even just using SQL) you can just download a library/module for it.

Wth?! Surely you should get more marks for implementing your own solutions to things like this?!

Any game developers out there with some tips for game development? Starting a school project and have decided to do a video game :)

Would be glad to hear your advice and I'm sure there are others out there who would too!

So I'm currently in year 13 with only about a month until my school wants me to apply to universities...

I want to go but damn... I don't know the best place to go! There's so many, they all do different things and there are always people that say they're brilliant and always people that say they're terrible!!

Hi! This is my first post, I've been programming for about 5 years now and know multiple languages. I intend to do a degree in Computer Science soon but I wondered if anyone had any advice about breaking into the industry, specifically video game development.
