Explain the value to them in their terms. I think they will understand. It is part of your education and earning potential. Good luck. More advice if you need it. I am in their demographic.

tahnik387588y@Jumpshot44 Not sure how else can I explain them when my job role is software engineering. They know exactly what I'm doing.
Sometimes I don't even understand if they're trolling with me 😐 -
They love you and would like you to have a well rounded existence. Make time for life!

Knossos5278yIf sitting in front of the computer is all you do... May be take some time on the weekend to go on a walk with dad?
I know it is annoying when parents nag about things like that, but they really only do it for your own health.
There are negative side effects to always sitting. You can alleviate those with a good chair and raising your monitor(s) to eye level.
Plus, perhaps they simply want to spend more time with you :)

Try standing/treadmill desk like this. Then they can't say you're /sitting/ all day at a computer. http://i.imgur.com/BybRhxU.jpg

Yes, I love my parents.
But every fucking time I plan to buy a PC they will make some noise. I am not even touching their money to buy it yet they will make a fuss about it.
"All my son does is sit in front of computer whole day"
Sorry father but I am doing the same thing in my job. They are young enough to know what I am doing yet still keeps ranting on me.
I still love them but this is so annoying sometimes.
