I hate trying to support old browsers.
If we keep supporting old sh*t, people will never stop using it.

I agree. If Google and Facebook stopped serving their page to IE6 users, in a month it would disappear in statistics

Exactly! Sometimes you just *need* to break backwards compatibility.

Every time we close an old browser compatibility issue as won't fix, we push the web ever so slightly forward.

Delivering services for a big company in my country, have to support ie8 because this company is using it, when filtering in analytics we can see that it's basically only the company itself that visiting with ie8...

there should be a standard "hey dumbass, update your stuff." page we all redirect to if the browser is old.

*disclaimer. yes I know not everyone has a choice because corporate structure.

@tobbeboi Your company uses ie8? so... they're devs, right? Who use ie8? Please get out of there. They're monsters. Unless they pay you like 180k a year or something.

I long for this day. I was recently told in a job interview that the devs support back to ie6. I almost hung up the phone.

@julianmd lol, the company is a customer to us, I don't work there

Our company is luckely in a very luxurious position in this case. We only have to support the last 2 versions. So for IE this means IE11 and Edge.

If Microsoft would make a new version of Windows without that much backwards compatibality (just 10 and 8) it might just become a better OS.
