Luckily I use my own local servers for backups.. looks like that wasn't a bad decision after all. No fancy clouds for me here.

Lesson: avoid US American providers until the Americans get the secret police shit under control.

@Condor When you say "local" do you mean they are all in your house?

@platypus yep, it's a server with some 4TB of disks in it that's humming away in my storage room. There's also a 5th TB of disk storage that I'd like to add (which is currently unused) but it's a USB 3.0 external drive and the only ports there are USB 2.0.. so I'd like to get an add-in card for USB 3.0 first.

@Condor Aren't you worried about theft, flood, fire, etc? Or do you do offsite backups manually?

@platypus I don't do off-site backups. Mostly what I'm worried about is filesystem and drive failure. Hence why I'm mirroring between a 4TB WD Book and a 2TB VM in my server (planning to expand that one though, I'm already using 1.3TB there). That is, trying to.. on Linux I can just make a cron job with some rsync commands and call it a day, but Windows is an absolute pain in the lower back to do scheduled backups with.

@AlexDeLarge btw, what went on with rutee - yesterday, it was like "won't delete my account"? How did you change her/his mind? ^^
