Music, on ‘paper’ is a language or code. Some musicians can see the code behind what is being played so it’s not such a strange thing to say.

data is data, how you present it is largely arbitrary choice depending on your preference.

when i was working with automated futures trading systems, i preferred to think about the chart data as sounds, and the current price as a frequency multiplier. really helped to just imagine and play around with the sounds instead of trying to make sense of a list of numbers
