Dad: What are you doing with your life?

Me: Enjoying it. Can you say the same?

My dad degrades me for my programming because he's from 'that generation.' Fuck him, Imma do what I enjoy, cause I'm damn well sure I don't want to end up like him.

Yeah okay. Trade your computer tinkering for a shovel huh?

Ouch dude, that sucks. Remember, even though you think he's a dick, he's still your father. Be better than him and do what you love.

Don't let him or other people with his mindset effect you. It's these kinds of people that are stuck in the dark ages, can't learn or adapt (generally speaking).

Honestly, personally speaking I wouldn't have any unsupportive people like that in my life. Or limit contact with them. You don't need that negativity.

Thankful my Dad was an enthusiast of technology and computers.

My dad liked crosswords, and quietly left me to it! 😊

@joehop67 Sorry for you dude. Just keep doing your thing and move out as soon as possible :)

Tough to degrade someone for cultivating arguably the most marketable skills on the planet right now. Maybe one day he'll see the light when you've started a lucrative career. In the meantime, keep doing what you're doing. If you're passionate about computers, it's a no brainer IMO.

My grandfather yanked my dad to work at his business when my dad was only 14. At the time my dad was considered the smartest kid in the school. However, my dad never showed he was bitter about it and was supportive of me when I was interested in computers and maths.
Your dad has probably had it bad and never had the choices you have. Be gentle and loving to him and explain to him what you do - he's probably very
    interested .

Don't let this situation be an inside bomb that will tick forever. Convert it to character strength. It's hard but it's the best you can do. I had a similar situation and that made me hunting my dreams even more aggressively no matter what.

appreciate the support guyz but beware the OP might already be frustrated from his dad leading to a one sided truth here.

end of the day, he is still your dad! a good lot of people don't get to meet their own.

Every day I get a joke from someone in my family about how freak I am for being "learning" in front of a computer all day long. To me is a passion. so, fuck them all. They are not the ones making my life path. They are smart as hell but anytime in their lifes they lost to think about theirselves and started criticising the other ones because of frustration and adaption. Now they are couch-potatos. Just do what you love as much as you want whenever you want.

Hate will lead to an infinite loop while emotional conversion will enhance inner stability.

Never thought being a programmer would be considered as a rebellion 😐
