    Theres so much wrong with this.

    @D--M please explain bro
    I want to buy this one for deep learning
  • 4
    Do you really need a laptop with those specs?
  • 2
    @D--M

    yup I want to uprade my laptop.

    i am corruntly using very budget laptop which is enough for web development

    current config :

    APU Quad Core A8 6th gen

    1TB HDD

    8gb ram

    2gb AMD Radeon R5 M330

    it lag too much so I want to upgrade system.

    don't want to build pc
  • 4
    I mean , if you build a neural network i would honestly chose Xeon over intel
  • 12
    @Clear0Ff Xeon IS intel....

    @import-fun
    Fair enough, then get what you like. But in a laptop with those specs, you will never escape thermal throttling.

    Also if you intend to carry it around, its going to weight like a tonne of shit.
  • 3
    @D--M well yea but i meant the i3 i5... series

    My bad, i had to mention :D
  • 1
    @D--M

    yup accepted ,it's weight alot.

    i have mac/pc in office so no need to carry this machine home-office-home.

    i travelled very less. so weight is not messure point for me.

    I am planning on buying a very basic, dumb laptop and to make a server which would have similar specs, for me I think 16GB RAM is mendatory for big datasets, and ofcourse Nvidias

    If you don’t need to carry it around, why not build a PC/Server? That would suit your needs a lot more than a laptop. You’ll have way better thermal performance and can exchange parts with ease. It’ll also be cheaper, probably.

    @DuckDuckWent

    i have space issue

    i can't build pc right now

    @oudalally

    external cooling pad ??

    i rant here just because I want to know is this specification are enough for basic deep learning student
  • 4
    @import-fun Well, your call. Specs of this laptop are beastly, but I don’t know about thermals and price.
  • 3
    @import-fun External cooling pads won‘t help enough, in fact, they are loud and useless. Those are my experiences with them..
  • 3
    @DuckDuckWent

    price is ok

    150k INR

    i will buy external cooling pad
  • 1
    @DuckDuckWent

    k so do you have any other option in that price range

    because apple is also useless in this segment
  • 2
    @oudalally

    thanks man

    so i will choose i7 in it
  • 1
    @oudalally

    8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8750H Processor (6-Core, 9MB Cache, up to 4.1GHz w/ Turbo Boost)

    other spec are same

    and i will try to ditch

    or i will upgrade it once i get laptop in hand
  • 4
    @oudalally
    ITB ssd is too much !
    512 GB ssd , and 1tb HDD is good !

    I agree in bumping mem to 32gb

    @oudalally

    yup man just for cuda

    will try to customize in that way

    ty for your time man

    i will prefer to buy a basic laptop, and make a powerful PC to do the hardwork load; i have same thought with you 3 years ago so now i have this:

    Laptop :

    Asus A455LN; i7 5500, GT840M, 8GB RAM

    PC:

    Xeon E3-1285 v6

    Team Xtreem 16GB DDR4 (4x4GB) Quad Channel

    Nvidia GT-630 > Video (i know this is Unnecessary)

    Nvidia GTX-1060 6GB > Workload

    @wowotek me too

    but can't build pc for 2 years

    I have pc but it is inside my bed monitor behind table -_-

    @import-fun https://lenovo.com/us/en/...
    Real beast+would've to wait for release for a month or so+ probably near 126k INR

    Maal laptop
    Except for rukna padega thoda

    > high performance computing
    > laptop
    Well there's your first problem.

    Get the biggest gpu you can, a 1080 or even a 1070 will make a significant difference if you're serious about doing this kind of stuff. AMD Vega is also great for this kind of stuff. And I would avoid i9 stuff, if you want many cores and high performance you should probably go AMD with a high-end Ryzen.

    An high performance overclockable CPU in a laptop, WITH A 1060?!
  • 2
    @gitlog

    will it hit with price ~130k

    it will ruled that segment

    but its quadro

    i think tenserflow is more compatible with GTX

    @Mizz141 i am beginner

    I will work with small dataset

    Thanks to everybody holding up common sense, especially @oudalally.

    This build is stupid. You are wasting money.
    You will not be happy with the result in every aspect. I speak from experience. I've had a extremely powerful laptop as well.
    (msi apache).

    It was loud, a literal brick to carry around and you will never ever get get the performance due to the massive heat throttling. Did I also mention that you have 0 portability because your battery will die in 45min - 1 hour?

    "I don't have the money / space to build a pc."
    Wrong. If you really have no space for a setup buy a tiny tower with some decent hardware, and then a small portable laptop.

    What you then do is connect to your small server over the internet via ssh or TeamViewer.

    This way you have something slim, lightweight on the go, and immense power when you need it. And since it's at home and another device you can just close the conmection, turn off the laptop and check back in later when the tasks are done.

    Look, I have some serious experience building pcs. Just yesterday I built a beast setup for a friend that totalled to ~4k € and that took 10+ hours in planning, because I wanted him to have a tailor-made rig exactly for his wishes.

    Do yourself a favor and accept my advice. I really know what I am talking about.

    @beggarboy

    ohh man that's awesome advice

    i never thought this way i have monitor + laptop + external keyboard/mouse

    my pc mother is old

    thanks i will think on it

    @import-fun Wtf is wrong with those specs 😂

    Dude, I play The Witcher 3 on a way shittier laptop than yours
  • 0
    @AforAutism

    my no issue

    i need suggestion of other experience developer.

    that's why I post this.

    and

    it is worth it to ask query here ,they gave me serious suggetions.

    I will figure out

    how can I adjust cpu?
  • 1
    @import-fun oh... Guess... I'm sorry
  • 1
    @import-fun i dont think you can change your laptop's cpu
  • 0
    @AforAutism nobody can't but I will build cpu n access it through my current laptop
  • 1
    @import-fun I’m lost why can’t you build a PC?

    Just get an ITX case and board or micro ATX and it will have the same foot print as a laptop

    Edit: and just put the monitor on top of the case.

    @import-fun
    If you can wait, do it for the 20series in laptops, many more tensor cores.
  • 1
    @import-fun idk, maybe CentOS, cuz it's stable
  • 1
    Why in Thor's name would you use a laptop for deep learning?? That don't make no sense.
