qwerty77asdf86267dHow is the word 'coding' offensive?
qwerty77asdf86266d@aEEEdev I can see what you're trying to get at but I am happy to be called a programmer, coder or developer. It is about what we do which, in truth is mostly writing texts for a machine to understand and execute. Which is directly what 'programming' entails and pretty much what 'coding' entails.
1. the process of assigning a code to something for classification or identification.
(The machine identifies what everything we make means and uses it)
2. the process of scheduling something, especially radio or television programmes.
(The scripts we write are basically just schedules for the machine to execute)
I am sorry and I'm sure you will disagree with this post too but I don't have any problems with the terms.
-Tor797466dI'm an engineer. Developer, coder, and programmer are just too heavily tied to other types of positions. I'll accept programmer but only if it is "computer programmer". Otherwise when people ask, I'm an engineer.
