ceee77786yAt first when I read this,I was like ??? You are using a browser icon ? Everyone will open that folder !!
Then I realised which browser this is ππ€£ -
You could have a lot of fun with this at school. :p
Just write a little "virus" and spread it on the school's PCs as an icon for internet explorer. -
kamen69956yIf you have to hide your folders from someone using the same account, the joke's on you.

CatMDV10506yConsidering that every living human.. nay, every living thing hates IE, having an icon for it on the desktop is a huge giveaway that it is something suspicious. Everyone will naturally assume it is some fucked up porn (which it probably isπ€£), they are sure gonna look into it.
You chances are higher with the Edge icon though, give it a try. π -
If you're already in the properties-window, you could just check the "Hidden"-box ._.

I used to change the extension of specefic files... Like .mp4 to .pdf and whenever you tried to access it, it'd say that the file is corrupt πI had to drag the file and play it with the media player...

DeWil2306yIn school I replaced the Chrome-Shortcut with a custom Shortcut having a Chrome icon, that leads to a shutdown-batch file on my neighbours pc. Funny thing is, he tried starting that a few times before finding out :D

Root825996yI always used a hidden folder named "mscreate.dir" since MS installers/utilities and windows itself loved to randomly create those everywhere.
For things I really wanted to hide, e.g. everything personal from my nosey and controlling parents, I saved it in password-protected archives on a ZIP disk (seriously) and carried it with me. Can't delete/alter/snoop through data that isn't there!
When I discovered linux, I simply converted the directory I wanted to hide into a file and back again, or converted the raw data into a bitmap π. (With careful placement and naming, like data.bmp, they didn't get deleted for being "corrupt")
The only time my parents actually read anything of mine is (a) when it was written down in my room, backpack, etc. Or (b) when they installed a keylogger. Ofc I got in trouble over things they found, like school work, chats with friends, emails, ... .
I came up with my own language and writing system to prevent (a) from ever happening again (with personal things at least), and as for (b) ... super paranoia; bios boot passwords, moving from windows to linux, making note of login timestamps, installed packages, case and cable and drive placement, evidence of tampering, ... .
Having no privacy while growing up makes you a very resourceful privacy enthusiast. π -
Pure genius.
That wouldn't work for me... I have people here who willingly use it despite me having Firefox and other browsers π€¦βοΈ -
@ceee if he replaced with ie icon, my guess is everyone will shift delete it right away π€
