Unpopular opinion.
Instead changing UI, Microsoft should take their shit and make Visual Studio available on Linux.

Microsoft should end Microsoft Visual Studio and should let it redo it with VS Code as base by Jet Brains.

Not matter how much you hate Microsoft, no IDE is better than VS when it comes to c/cpp development in windows and they had me with the introduction of linux development with cpp in VS 2017.
p.s. I'm currently using CLion on linux you'd give it a try it pretty good with cmake support

@heyheni I don't need to read the source code to know that Windows is bloated crap. Not to mention all the functionality built in to windows to facilitate spying on its users.
