After hours of debugging code that refuses to cooperate, I realized I needed something mindless but fun to reset my brain. Normally I’d scroll aimlessly, but this time I tried a little browser game instead. Surprisingly, it worked better than coffee to get me back in the zone. Do you guys also have a go-to quick fix when burnout hits?

That isn’t burnout. Like, it’s not even in the same realm as burnout. Please don’t get these confused.

But yes. Anything intensely enjoyable (like fast-paced games) work really well because they give you a shot of dopamine, which in turn allows your brain to work better — especially if you have ADHD.

"Little browser games" are a saturated market, you're wasting your time.

Your link in your profile leads to “little browser games” aka chiikawapuzzles. We’ve had issues with app promoters in the past, just making sure you’re not one of them?

Seconding the notion that this is not burnout.

But yeah, whenever what you mention happens it's usually a sign that I have to take my lunch break or an afternoon nap.

Yeah... I have found that suspicious, too.

@TeachMeCode Isn't this a trend on tiktok too?

    2. no coffie

    3. Go for a walk

    4. Use this *self promoted brand*-pills to help you sleep better

    5. Eat my ass

Wait, why would you spend more time on your computer? Just get up and do something else around the office or in your house.

I agree with @Root. That's not burnout, it's just ordinary wear/boredom/procastination. I usually read the news, check my e-mail, play some online chess och read up on what's going on at devrant :)

    @gitstashio

    That's a good point!

10-minute stand-up break, tiny 20-minute nap, 1 hour of fun.

The real answer is play the fun online games she’s trying to sell

@TerriToniAX LinkedIn has also mini mind games.

    Boss: What are you doing?

Me: Browsing LinkedIn to catch up with the latest trends...

@Lensflare Maybe worth upgrading the anti bot to check profile? Since they want backlinks (for google ranking) which they'll get if it's in the profile
  • 1
@BordedDev you mean checking if the profile description is a link or something? I haven’t thought about how spammer profiles typically look.
  • 2
@BordedDev most spammers are too fucking stupid to link to their spam

@Lensflare Yes, the google bot will see this rant, then check their profile and see the backlink, they don't need to post the link
