UTF-8, one of the biggest hack that we use everyday. First draft of UTF-8 was written on the back of the napkin.

UTF-8 is definitely not a "short-term" hack.

And really most of my ideas for Project Management (Refactoring Projects with a large codebase from e.g. PHP 5.3 to 7) really work like this...

It's the easiest way - draw it, discuss it, ship it.

If it sinks or stinks, back to the drawing board ....

Or toilet paper...
