Congratz! The first job is always an experience, hope it'll be fun and/or earn you some money ;)

    Same as @jonii says.

    Congrats:)

    Congrats, love that attitude

@rEaL-jAsE It's just McDonald's. Nothing too special. But it's still my first job so I'm proud of it

@rEaL-jAsE Well I hope it works that way here too. I basically got the job immediately after applying because my friend referred me, and everyone there loves him. The general manager called me maybe 4 hours after I put in the application and told me I had the job

    FX [ Applauds. ]

    And free food too ?

    Congratulations!! :)

@Nanos I know that there's free food when you have a break, but other than that we still have to pay. But discounts are still pretty nice.

I was with a couple friends once, one of which works at that McDonald's (he got me the job), and we wanted 80 nuggets. It came out to like $22 before the discount, but around $16 after the discount.

Congrats! Report again in 2 months when you absolutely can't see your workplace anymore and wish everyone there would just stfu and leave you alone!

    > there's free food when you have a break

I guess only eat during break times. :-)

Save a small fortune on home cooking then..

What you going to save your wages towards ?

Congrats. While working, think and plan your future business.

@Nanos I'll have to pay my own car insurance, so that's top of the list. After that, I'm getting a Switch cause me and my best friend have wanted to get a Switch for months now
  • 1
@infernalempress I'm guessing a Switch is not the same as a Router..

    Some game console ?

Cycling is cheaper than a car, but not so attractive for getting a date..

Any particular reason for having a car ?

(He says, collecting data on car ownership purposes..)

@Nanos Yeah, I'm talking about the Nintendo Switch my guy. Maybe one day I'll have a bunch of them hooked up to an HDMI switch

But where I live, it's just plain hard to get around without a car. Especially the fact that winter is a thing and we'll hit -20°F sometimes (around -30°C) sometimes. During the summer we get a lot of storms and cycling is not very fun in the rain (I speak from experience).

Plus my new job is 15 minutes away driving from my house, and if I cycled, I just plain wouldn't have the time to go home from school, get ready, THEN go to work.

Also having a car vs a bike for a date... AND the fact that I already have the car that my parents are giving me, but I just can't pay for insurance yet.

Ta, what would you say your average driving speed was to get from your house to your job ?

I'm reminded when I lived in a city, the average speed was 9mph !
  • 2
@Nanos It's about 15 minutes doing an average of ~30mph. For right now my friend's gonna drive me, until I can start driving myself. He doesn't care much for speed limits so he gets there from my house in maybe 10 minutes. I don't care a whole lot for speed limits either but I try not to go too extreme. So I personally would get there somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes

    @infernalempress

Thanks, I hear the 30mph speed mentioned a lot.

Thus, I think it is important to be able to cycle at 30mph to 35mph to keep up with traffic I reckon.
  • 2
@Nanos I'm personally not fit enough to maintain that speed while cycling. Plus I'd rather not cycle on those busy streets, almost been hit a few times before over there.

Also I have to ask. Why are you collecting data on car ownership?
  • 1
    @infernalempress

I want to build vehicles. :-)

Hence, I want to know, what should I build..

What do people want, need, and do with vehicles.

Can I design something that makes people more happy, gives them more of what they want.

I hear a lot of unhappy comments about current vehicles, that it is difficult to get a perfect one with everything you want.

As such, what might you want in a vehicle, that yours doesn't have ?

And, does it have something you hate about it ?

I like sliding doors, I hate doors that aren't sliding, as the wind catches them and either bends the hinges, or bashes the door into you, or something else you don't want it to !

With sliding doors, you just have to worry about getting your fingers caught in them, like ordinary doors, only more guillotine like..

🤔 I thought it takes an engineering degree to land a job @ Macdonald's/KFC.
    Hmmm times chamge.

Ps.: OP gratz on the job!!
  • 2
@RustyCookie Shhhh they don't know that I don't have an engineering degree. They think I'm a 17 year old who has a master's degree but hasn't graduated high school yet

@infernalempress ah ok let's keep it secret
