Got my linux setup bricked the day before my final exam.

Me too I tried to install Arch linux (as solo os) as I had 3 days holidays, during computer organisation and architecture exam, formatted the live disc instead of the partition . I had to ask some one to help with making bootable usb, at the same time I had flashed wrong firmware on my mobile. Took me 2.5 days to fix. I started at 6 pm day before exam. Slept at 10pm. Next day started at 6am to 9am. Apparently I had understood concepts better then I thought. I guess you should give time to fix the device I helps with more understanding about stuff then answering text books based question

Happened to me thrice during my last setup. Damn typos

Just to clarify, this happened while I was updating my system.

Appearantly, the update was interrupted while installing a new kernel.

That's because Linux never fails. Or was it Windows? Good luck though.
