The importance of headphones is to avoid listening to co-workers talking nonsense all day long, especially young people.

    I'm worried you're talking about me now šŸ˜” I'm still pretty new and I ask my mentor-person about stuff constantly + we have general banter a lot.

    Sorry for talking too much, to you and/or my coworkers. I feel bad now šŸ˜‚

    @Elyz don't be. That's how you learn. There are no stupid questions just ones the you don't yet know answers to.

    @Elyz programming isn't nonsense, I would be happy if my colleagues will talk about programming :)

    Yeah... The problem with open space offices: noice.

    Another problem that I just learned is that people eventually stop talking. It's better to just isolate yourself with headphones than everyone using chat application or email in my opinion.

    @joas Thats right, isolate that's the solution,
    I could go crazy with so much noise.

    Sadly, my team (all technical) has to share the office with another team (marketing agency) in which the staffs are mostly women, and they gossip all the time about everything, so we (people in my team) have to wear headphones almost 8 hours working. I'm deeply concerned about possibility of me being suffered hearing loss in near future :(

    Oops, sorry.
    I'm one of those who talks lots of nonsense with his coworkers. I mean I do work quietly for hours, but when I'm having a conversation, especially with a non-dev, coworkers it's utter nonsense most of the time haha

    @buitrung That's exactly my case, we share office with communication team (something like marketing).

    @rutee07 yeah, podcasts are a great way to focus in a task.

    @rutee07 @drakedalfa

    I disagree. Listening to talking doesn't make me focused to the task at hand. Instead if I listen to talking I listen to talking. Same problem with music that has lyrics. So I only listen to instrumental music if the porpoise is to isolate or activate me mentally.
