I got you both beat. My high school CS teacher had a degree - in English. Couldn't explain ANYTHING about java.

Anybody can teach, but not everybody can make others learn

Our high school IT teacher was a PT teacher who self-taught programming. Great guy, with his own curriculum of MS Office, web programming, procedural programming (Pascal and Delphi back then!). Strict, but willing to accept he's not always right when confronted with evidence.

Second half of the class had a teacher with master degree in IT. Horrible bitch who failed to teach them anything. Even the worst students from our half were mocking her, because their barely passable skills were higher than hers.

Degrees doesn't matter. Approach to teaching does.

I have a BA in Japanese and an MEd in Curriculum Design, but because it’s not a *bachelor’s* in Education I can’t get a teaching certificate. It’s like the joke where the programmer comes home with 6 gallons of milk.
