*Clears throat*

To everyone who say's they won't release X for Y because Y isn't good at Z (For example, people who don't support games on Linux because Linux isn't as good at gaming compared to windows), go fuck yourself with the wide end of a rake...

Fuck me people piss me off with stupidity sometimes .-.

Thing's aren't going to evolve and get better if everyone just abandon's shit at the first fucking hurdle, remember when windows wasn't good at gaming compared to mac, well that fucking changed pretty quick didn't it...

(If anyone is curious how this came about, I'm am still holding hope for Gamemaker studio 2 to come to Linux but in the mean time though about running it's compiler through mono and building a front end to see if I can even do it but was talking to someone about it and they said I'm wasting my time because Linux is shit for games)

I honestly can’t see Linux becoming a home for AAA games until video card manufacturers.... looking at Nvidia.... get their shit together and start making their cards work on more than just Windows.

From a business standpoint, it makes sense that it's an issue of investment vs. benefit when allocating resources into supporting a platform with a smaller audience, but I'm with you that it's frustrating how that ends up being the self-reinforcing circle.

The only reason I go through the effort of setting up dualboot is so I can have "the games OS". There's nothing about Windows itself that makes me want to use it.

Just thought I'd add that I understand that from a business point it is a hard sell but when you're small and indie (I'm a lone dev), getting your game as many places makes sense and generally speaking is relatively easy (Depending on engine)...

@C0D4 And you're not wrong but without the audience and great enough demand for what games we have to be better, it's not even a drop in the sea for them

@lxmcf sometimes putting the effort to maximize your income on one platform has a bigger impact than supporting a minority. If it is just Unity/Unreal whatever build Linux fine. On AAA that's not the case, so investing millions in supporting Linux for 10.000 new players seems strange because they reach 100.000+ if they invest that in marketing. As a solo dev you need to be ressourceful as hell.

But take a warm niche might be a great idea. Hard business decisions need to be made. I totally understand not supporting linux.
