Apple shot it many years ago.
Html5 canvas sucked the blood out of it for the past decade
Chrome blocked it, and you have to go out of your way to use it.

In short: Adobe lost this fight.

flash was a really nice tool but it was fundimentally flawed security wise. hopefully some kind of webassembly derivative will pop up
