Me: i could travel 1 hour or you can just google and download it, its really quite simp--
Family: yeah this is to complicated for me il need you to come over

If that happens to me, I always say:

"I won't be coming home for another few weeks. so if you need it before then, I suggest you just Google the printer's software and install it."

Had a family member that was too lazy/stupid/whatever where he wasn't even able to launch it and demanded that I travel 3 hours to one direction just to help him out on installing drivers for GPU. When I said that I won't do that for the next few months - he was very angry as of why I can't help a family member out since I'm the tech guy in the family.

Since then, I never helped him with anything anymore.

I just tell my family that my services are no longer free.

25 GBP inspection fee plus 15 GBP per hour to fix which is rounded up if it doesn't end on the dot. That's what I charge and after the first time, they opted to do it on their own.

Sure it's family but your time is your own. Fault finding and fixing / random software installs isn't fun, just work.

@punka just install TeamViewer by default and get it so that you can log in whenever
