Most the devs are yelling Linux is best and blah. But since I installed eOS on my new ideapad my productivity is zero.

I'm just solving problems with the OS or other software. It seems some of the drivers are missing, because sometimes this fucking piece of shit just don't boots or just hangs. Installing node and npm was definitely one of the worst experiences because I messed up sudo privileges... I had to change my workflow because node-sass wasn't able to compile because of this.

And still I kind of feel more comfortable with eOS. 😥

    Windows: works ok most of the time, but when it doesn't, you're fucked

    Linux: when it works, it works great; when it doesn't, boy you're in for a ride. You can still fix it (probably), but it's gonna be painful

    Elementary is Ubuntu based, right?

    I can easily install node and npm by following any recent internet tutorial on xubuntu, lubuntu and mint OSs. I can dig my pocket and share you the links if you want.

    Why would you install an operating system you don't know, and expect to be able to use it, let alone be productive with it?

    How did you manage to mess up your sudo privileges?

    I mean you either have to:
    - Leave the sudo group
    - Edit the sudoers file
    - Remove sudo from the system.
    (Both assuming default Elemtary / Ubuntu)

    That doesn't happen at random.

    @Wombat it's intuitive once you get used to it, but it's very different from windows

    It's a new OS with a completely new way of doing things, of course you won't be productive yet. Don't be afraid to ask your co-workers for help if they already know how to use it. Lifelong Linux users (I've known some, their parents only used Linux) get just as confused the first time they run Windows.

    @Wombat I have followed this guide on my last Mint OS. I used Option 2 since Ubuntu repo usually has a bit outdated versions.

    A year later this rant seems so awkward to me. I use Linux on a daily basis now. And hell my productivity is way higher than remembering using windows those days. 🤦
