I really do think that the recent partnership of Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft and IBM on AI is the worst possible news. Things are moving towards the AI revolution and the companies behind it could possible have unimaginable power over the world. It's not a matter of when or if, but of who, and I have a bad feeling of the whos...

    It makes sense that the top tech companies would lead the charge there I personally wanna see what they come up with. Don't forget there are plenty of people who work on it who understand the potential ethical issues that may arise from AI

    @harleywewax I doubt ethics will play much of a role... Ethics always come second, if history has tought us anything.

    Idk our current tech Giants are fairly responsible and ethics is a major concern. What might be a minor change to Facebook overall like the trending news topics could have large implicstions if the algorithm has some kind of inherent bias that is causing only liberal or only conservative sources. They already got popped for suppressing conservative news outlets once

    @harleywewax That's the thinking of today. Try to think a decade from now...It's not a matter of newsfeeds anymore.

    What you need to fear more... All of this will be in neural language...

    @peterbetos Basically, uncontrollable...

    @antoni4040 when you feel overwhelmed.. Just remember we are all going to die one day.

    Thougt the same today... in combination of the news that facebook doesn't follow the (privacy) law in europe i find that quite scary. That means a few tech companys are going to be more powerful than goverments, because they'll get so rich throu Ai that they can afford any billion dollar goverment penalty.

    @heyheni After a certain point, no goverment will be able to do anything...

    I find it kinda funny for people to suddenly be scared about this now.. What were you thinking let's say 8 years ago? When every person started publicly sharing every possible detail about his life on those sites? That all the data is temporarily cached and will never be used? That technology reached its peak?

    @vortex Who said anything about data? It's not a matter of knowing personal information, but of companies using AI to change the world according to their needs and wishes.
  • 1
    By manipulating you with the data..

    @antoni4040 actually imo its always been about the data.

    @27Bytes You can't be sure, it's called Singularity for a reason: we can't be sure what will happen next...

    Ethics to them, is a county north of the Thames said by someone with a lisp.

    @edisonn People calling you crazy is usually the first part of being right... Personally, I believe people should attack this alliance by creating a strong open-source AI movement. Now it's officially a race. I just started uni and I'm going to choose AI classes as much as possible. See you in 4-5 years...

    @edisonn I didn't know it went so well and had such potential! Thank God for Elon Musk, I'm really starting to like him...

    @edisonn I think it's very, VERY clear that they want to crush OpenAI and any other similar efforts. For the betterment of mankind, always...
