Adobe is shit and they make shit. Why do they have such dominance???

I guess because they have the biggest portfolio of desktop publishing and overall creative professional software and they all work together.
Affinity has some great products, but they don't offer anything in the video range and have less features.
Same goes for MS, Office isn't that great at times, but I still haven't seen anyone offer better software in that area.

Dunno about you, but I use Photoshop regularly and it handily outdoes the competition in features, ease of use, support, and most importantly industry adoption and community (unless you want something specific). After Effects is super nice too, it's extremely polished and has a huge userbase, and same for Premiere (though it has a lot more competition). A friend uses InDesign regularly and it's a staple in that industry and apparently pretty nice to work with, though can't say much because I don't have any experience with it (I don't know anyone using Illustrator professionally lol).

I don't know where you're getting the "Adobe sucks" thing from unless you're talking about Dreamweaver or Muse or something.

Having said that it is a bit pricey I agree and with the recent hike I'll have to see if I can continue affording it (great return though so probably yes).

Adobe have dominance as no other company has released / purchased a suite of products of the same caliber or standards.

Yes there are alternatives, but those alternatives are cheap knock offs at best and make you wish you just paid for adobe anyway.
