What are your thoughts on the pinephone? Do you guys think we will finally get a phone that is truly open and gets updates for a considerable timespan?

@norman70688 MeeGo is an operating system. What the people at pine64 are building is open hardware for a phone. You can put any os on it that you want. The goal is to get firmware and kernel updates for 20 years after the hardware release.

If the price is good I'll take one. (Even if the price is not good but first I need to finish fucking school). I really want a phone where I can put the shit I want on. Not some stupid android stuff.

There's also the Librem5 phone from purism, its focus is on privacy and open source hardware and software. It comes with a variant of Debian Linux.

That sounds like a more viable alternative to me for Android than the Purism phone.
    Might get one.
