Pinephone that I ordered back in April finally arrived. Pic taken from the cheapo hold-me-over phone I got off Amazon when I destroyed my last cell about a week after placing the order.19

Can anyone recommend some android alternatives?
I'm not looking to move away from android permanently but I'm just curious, I enjoyed my time with UBports (fuck QT) and seeing projects like the PinePhone and Librem 3 just get me curious what is actually out there.
Currently rocking a pixel 2 XL but not shy on buying new hardware to test stuff out as long as it's within reason.
Currently had a look at PureOS (not available) and Sailfish, any others to give a whirl?6 -
What? You've been messaging me for days? I'm sorry. I got a new phone; it extremely experimental, as it's using linux and not android or iOS. I guess I just haven't gotten your messages.
The pine phone gives be the best excuse I've had in years for ignoring people!
For the record though, I *have* been getting all their calls and messages since switching to Postmarket.2 -
What are your thoughts on the pinephone? Do you guys think we will finally get a phone that is truly open and gets updates for a considerable timespan?

So far, I'm not a fan of Ubuntu touch on the pinephone. I think ill plan on switching to PostmarketOS this weekend. It looks more bare bones from what I've seen (admittedly not very much so far) but looks like it's for more features working. UBports has a ways to go yet.4

Has anyone had any experience with the new Pinebook Pro?
Thinking of getting one as well as the Pinephone and Pinetime to build a mini ecosystem of sorts, just wanting to know if anyone can give any tips on the performance?3 -
What a world we live in, I am equally excited for the Pinephone and Microsoft duo... I feel strange for loving them both8

After reading through an article by EFF about Google's new FLoC technology, I finally woke up and realized that Google isn't any different from the other huge organizations, and that it isn't here to fight for greater user privacy and rights... As such, I made a switch, going from Google to DuckDuckGo.
Sure, I still use YT, but other than that, I don't have a gmail address that'd be of importance, don't use their search engine, and now...
Got any tips on how to minimize tracking potential of an android-based rooted smartphone? (Stock rom, Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro). I know using a custom rom is an option, however, Lineage isn't officially supported for this model of phone, and I still value functionality over anything else, so... Unofficial daily drive OS is sub-optimal.
Alternative hardware solutions like PinePhone, although nice in theory, are way too behind the commercial brands in terms of technology and features, so that's a no go.5
