I'm feeling so lonely at work. No one is interested in talking to me. They talk only when they need something done.

I've been and I did my best being nice to everyone ☹️

    You could talk to your boss that the company could arrange something for the team to get to know each other more on a personal level. For example an evening with some sports and a dinner.

    We have informal get-togethers at the end of the day, and team lunches from time to time. Sometimes you have to be the one that starts the conversation.

    @electrineer Oh I would hate that very much.

    They're your co workers, not your family or friends. Stop attaching any value at all to them. To paraphrase Sandra Bernhard, don't let them fuck you over! Fuck them over first! Fuck them up! Because they're scheming and planning behind your back as I write this...

    I feel the same way without even having a job.. 😂😰

    You would have stayed in the village where they jump around fire screaming

    @Jilano joining would be optional ofc as it's unpaid. It's your choice to like free fun and food

    Managers are supposed to encourage socialising.

    It is what I did when I was one.

    New staff coming in, I'd ask them about themselves, and introduce them to folk with similar interests/etc. who I thought would be a good match.

    A few days and they was happily chatting along with everyone.

    Before that, previous manager, well..

    New staff would arrive, and no one would talk to them for like 6 months !

    Everyone would sit around looking glum at each other.

    Me, I got them comfy arm chairs, music, newspapers, free drink and food, which they had to consume before they went home early every day. :-)

    ( We wasn't allowed food/drink.. so, consume it all, no evidence. :-) )

    @devJoe

    We do a lot of that in my village. :-)

    Just don't park your car too close, or it gets singed..

    More of an issue for those of us with more combustible vehicle types perhaps..

    I did have to beat out a friends hair that caught on fire with my gloved hands once.

    See, I was sensible, I wore gloves. :-)

    Bring cookies, keep at your desk...
    People might not like you, but they always like cookies

    (Not the browser ones)

    Me too... Been sorta feeling that more and more lately. My teams are always been in another country. Was ok except for now when the team is so large I actually need to talk to them.... Hard to get their attention or response....

    OMG, I'd give anything for people to leave me alone.. I don't want smalltalk when I go on cig break cuz I want to process workflows in my head..

    I think I have german ancestry, all work no smalltalk bs... No offence meant, I just admire their efficiency..

    @sladuled do you keep cookies at your desk?
  • 1
    @karma only IE ones... So they shouldn't be flocking in 🤣🤣🤣😇

    @sladuled this needs further investigation!
  • 0
    @karma what.. IE cookies?! O.o
  • 0
    @sladuled no the attraction of colleagues with a lack of cookies!

    @karma Aah.. well nothing misterious there, they are a bunch of lazy asses who rather chat than work.. :/ Obviously my thinking/pissed off face is not enough for some people.. :/ Have to try harder next time..

    Being nice doesn't work.

    Be mean instead.
    Everyone wants to earn your respect.
