    @heyheni it just hit me. Microsoft owns both vscode and atom.

    @marcus5914 yes, progressive web apps toghether with electron is the new core software strategy of microsoft. That was one of the reason MS bought GitHub in the first place.
    Electron will replace the the way software on windows and beyond is going to be developed. Electron will be deeply embeded into windows. And thanks to microsoft we will see a lot of advancment of WebAssembly as it fits into this strategy.

    @telephantasm I think I read today that it's now available for 7 and 8.1.
    Just checked and yup. The canary builds are available.

    @telephantasm Just read it by coincidence on a german tech news website.
    The weekly dev channel is still only on Win10.
    The daily canary builds now have separate downloads for Win 7, 8 and 8.1.
