Is this true of most talented people, though. If you are good at something, you are probably inspired by more than money.
Pretty sure Lewis Hamilton isn't getting up every day and thinking, "This sucks, but the money's too good to turn down." -
what the fuck is that subtext?
"humble introvert"? this is the guy that tells people that their code is shit and retarded. I would argue that's the complete opposite of humble introvert.
And nowhere is mentioned that he's the creator of the linux kernel. Nah, he's just famous for being an introvert that declined a job at Apple.
Regarding that terrible quote (apparently which is real, hard to accept), what the fuck was Linus thinking?
95% of devs expect to be paid, linus himself makes around 10 million a year.
i guess he meant "not JUST for money". -
3picName7285yAs always, things are not to be taken too literally. All this is saying is that most peole enjoy programming and have their hobby as a job, which is a good thing 😊 If this wasn't the case, there would be no (or fewer) open source. And I'm not sure if there is any other industry with such a big open source community as in software development

mundo0349115yMost programmers code whatever they want not for they pay or fame, just for the fun.
All pro programmers code comercial stuff for money, whether they have fun or not.
There is a differece -
@mundo03 yeah, he doesn't care about pay, he just got 150m net worth by accident 🤷

mundo0349115y@jesustricks but had fun doing it, most of the times.
I bet it was fun when he had to be careful on his communication style -
I have 2 jobs coding for money so I can code for my students' club in my free time for free. I need a vacation...

dafoex425y@jesustricks Linus made the kernel for fun, not profit, and maybe once he was humble, but fame changes people and I imagine with many young programmers looking upon him with an almost godlike view, he's taken it to his head.
That, or his actions are entirely deliberate and he just doesn't want people to hold him with such high regard.
